EXPERIENCE HUNTING
Some of the best hunting in East Texas is found in the Piney Woods region surrounding Rayburn Country Resort. If you’re a bow hunter, use a muzzleloader, or a regular hunting gun there is more than enough room for you in the three national forests located in the East Texas area. The Sabine National Forest, Angelina National Forest or Davy Crockett National Forest are all located in the Rayburn Country Resort area, and there is also over 126,000 acres available in Texas Public Hunting areas located close by in East Texas. Or if you prefer, you can join one of the many hunting clubs that are in the area and enjoy hunting on a private lease.
The Piney Woods are full of deer, wild turkey and other small game, as well as ducks and geese that stop by on the winter migration to warmer climates. You might also be lucky enough to draw one of the alligator permits on a controlled hunt on Lake BA Steinhagen located close to Rayburn Country.
A short drive away the East Texas area is the “Sportsman Paradise” of Louisiana with ample game to keep the hunter busy. Hunters should check with the Louisiana Authorities for license fees as well as hunting areas and seasons.
